Reinventing
Online Program Support

About fifteen years ago, the Noodle team helped invent and popularize the traditional online program management (OPM) model. But higher ed evolved, and that model stagnated— to the detriment of students and schools. So we started over.

The Noodle model allows our partner universities to retain academic and financial ownership over their programs and tap into a vast network of experts and resources.

This new approach resonates with universities. In fact, we’ve launched as many degree programs with top universities in the past three years as have all conventional OPMs combined.

Better
Economics

Noodle offers an innovative, flexible economic model that leverages a university’s in-house resources and drives towards its unique program goals.

Our fee-for-service model costs, on average, just 37% of program revenue compared to the 45-65% share of revenues that OPMs ask to support your degree programs and non-credit courses.

When online education was new, risky and expensive, rigid revenue-share arrangements made a certain amount of sense; it no longer does.

We’re happy to help any university analyze the economic impact of our contract vs those of conventional OPMs.

Greater
Flexibility

Noodle is far more flexible than conventional OPMs.

First, we don’t insist on doing everything ourselves. We leverage your internal strengths; for example, schools like Boston College have great and sizable learning design teams, so we simply advise, support, and backstop them.

Second, we’re sensitive to the many possibilities for integrating your online and on-campus programs. The goal is to eliminate confusion — and sometimes even competition — among programs.

Today’s peripatetic students require the best of both online and on-campus offerings.

By comparison, conventional OPMs have long contracts, locking you in for up to ten or fifteen years (we ask only five, though we’re delighted to commit to longer terms), and many require you to use their marketing, recruiting, support, learning design, and other services.

Better-Aligned
Interests

The Noodle model aligns our interests with those of our university partners. We profit when our partners achieve a better quality and lower cost program than it could achieve on its own.

For example, we structure our fees so that we have no incentive to cut corners in learning design or drive students to less selective, more expensive programs. Instead, we have every incentive to make your program great in both size and engagement.

Greater
Transparency

Noodle helps you access your data in real-time to optimize your programs and control costs. In fact, we invest millions of dollars per year to evolve a platform that visualizes your data, benchmarks it against anonymous network data, and integrates with other helpful tools.

Traditional OPMs operate in a black box, particularly with marketing tactics and spend. In fact, some OPMs consider your data and prospective learners to be their own, and market programs of other universities to them without your consent.

Switching to
A Better Path

If you’re ready to end a relationship with a traditional OPM, we can help you uncover and address the costs of doing so with minimal disruption and improve your programs while moving to a less expensive, more flexible, and more transparent model.
